Today I was caught off guard
The day was not like any other
I was tired, weak, angry with my father
Then came this brother in need
‘Give me something to eat’ he said
And I refused to help, not today
My spirit felt the pain, but my flesh was ‘no you’re also not okay’

The day I am working for the pay
I was busy, adding and keeping order
Then came lunch hour
Selfishness crept in
I took the last piece of the donut
And felt good about it
You deserve it cos youve conquered

The day of resting my mind and body
Tuning in to a movie and some music
Then the flesh demanded some dopamine
Feeding on x-rated scenes and language
After all am a full grown human being
Aint I?
Today I was caught off guard
The day of catching up and sharing with the chosen few
Words gushing out of my mouth like a fool
Exposing my dreams to the enemy of truth
Just so that I can seem like I got a good thing going
In all moments Wisdom should be applied
Caution should not be far fetched
May I always put on the full armor
May I always be on guard
Keep away from the drama
Cos the enemy is a devourer
Working day and night
To keep me from winning this race
Please watch out for the lies
